Vanda teres

Vanda teres is an inhabitant of the warm forest areas in the Himalayan foothills. It climbs up trees and forms great masses with branching stems. It's leaves are terete and look like parts of the thin stem. In early spring it flowers on a short peduncle with about  four to six flowers. The flowers are long lasting. This Orchid has been used in making many hybrids. In Kalimpong, inspite of the winter cold, it grows and flowers well though the plants grow vigorously only in the warm summer months.
